Concussion
Concussion tells the true story of the discovery of a brain condition that could have ended the NFL because it was caused by repeated forces against the cranium of the human head. The discoverer, Dr. Bennet Omalu played by Will Smith, was a Nigerian pathologist living in Pittsburgh with numerous college degrees in the medical field who was completely dedicated to his work in and outside the laboratory. He discovered the brain damage whilst doing an autopsy on a former Pittsburgh Steelers center who had recently had psychotic episodes with no sign of disruption or damage in his brain during examinations and tests done why he was still living. This mysterious concurrence caught the attention of Dr. Omalu who noticed things that no one else did. Being a NFL hall of fame recipient, no doctor wanted to operate or fund the in depth research of the man's brain. Without support, Dr. Bennet Omalu had to conduct and fund the research himself until he found further evidence that there was really any damage to the brain. Through dedication to the private research, he uncovered a condition in the brain caused from numerous concussions that resulted in psychopathic episodes and sometimes self inflicted death seen in multiple other former football players. With the discovery of the condition, great conflict on the people involved was started. Due to the condition directly affecting one of the nation's favorite sports and possibly changing how it's played led to a lot of hate from fans and employees of NFL leading to trouble that made Dr. Omalu eventually give up on the research and go into different work. Later in time, more former players began to pass away, the NFL and its fan began to pay more attention to the conditions and welcomed Dr. Bennet Omalu back to do further research on the condition and ways it could be avoided.
